Navigational Coordinates for Gold and Silver

Have you ever been driving through rural America and seen a series of signs spread along the highway that, when combined, make a complete message?

They are often religious in nature — there is one by my home in eastern Washington that has one sign every few yards that make up the Ten Commandments — but not always.

I was pheasant hunting in uber-rural Froid, Montana last week. It’s a quick 14-hour drive in an easterly direction from Spokane.

About halfway through that drive, between 5,000 acres of lentils and 3,500 acres of wheat, I saw a wonderful farm-sign spread that I deemed more valuable than any agricultural commodity. It said, “You Are… Ruled By… a Bureaucracy… That Answers… to No One.”

If I didn’t have another few hundred miles to drive, I would’ve liked to have a beer with those folks.

Those signs align very closely with my worldview, which is one of, but by no means the only, reason I own precious metals.

And, speaking of navigational coordinates that have been turned into adjectives…

One of the grizzled elders in our camp this year was Tom.

Tom did well in the mortgage business in the early 2000s, is retired, and enjoys his grandkids, chasing birds, and Black Velvet Canadian whisky.

With Tom, everything is directional. He exited our camp from a westerly direction, with a north-easterly wind blowing, and walked southerly toward a coulee filled with Russian olives that held birds, which flushed in a northerly — no, it was more northeasterly — direction.

His navigational commentary has become a running joke in pheasant camp.

One thing I hope for you is that the charts of your investments trend in a northeasterly direction.

No charts go up and to the right forever, of course. But buying them when they’re down greatly improves your odds.

We’re getting close to a buying zone in the precious metals.

I bought a bit more physical gold last week as it fell to the $4,000 level.

And I have my eye on one silver stock that I want to add to the Underground Alpha portfolio. But I think we still have time to buy cheap precious metal mining shares as tax-loss selling season intensifies.

Here is the silver chart:

Silver chart

It is wedging down and to the right — southeasterly. It could reach the deep south of $46 if we don’t hold the current $54 level, which is already showing cracks.

The related stocks look like they have some gaps in the chart to resolve near the lows of November 2025. The chart below is the Amplify Junior Silver ETF (NYSE: SILJ).

The US$21–US$23 zone looks likely to be tested over the next few weeks

The 10-year yield has made lower highs over the past week or so. Its continued descent, if it materializes, will be the juice that allows the metals complex to resume its northerly ascent.

Expect that new Underground Alpha silver recommendation in the next few weeks. And see the rest of the precious and critical metals stock research that publication is currently offering here.
